EC apologizes for delayed results, calls for calm

The Election Commission said late Tuesday that it was waiting to receive a compilation of the results from the two remaining regions so that it could declare the results of the presidential elections.

In a statement it issued apologizing for not being able to declare the election results before 5 p.m. as it had previously promised, the Commission said it has so far received results collected from 14 regions and is working with agents political parties at your national collection center at your head office to complete the exercise.

Consequently, the EC asked the public to remain calm while political party agents are reviewing all the results prior to certification by the President of the Commission, who is the scrutineer of the presidential elections.

He said he intends to publish all the results on his website.

ELECTORAL COMMISSION URGES THE GENERAL PUBLIC TO KEEP CALM AS YOU PREPARE TO DECLARE 2020
PRESIDENTIAL RESULTS

This informs the General Public that the Commission is still receiving results from the Regional Collation Centers. Currently, the Commission has received fourteen (14) results from the Regional Collation Centers with two outstanding ones. The Commission is working with Political Party Agents at the National Collation Center at the Commission’s Central Office. The Agents are reviewing all the results, prior to certification by the Commission President, who is the Officer returning for the presidential elections.

The Commission urges the general public to remain calm. The Commission intends to publish all certified presidential results on its website.

The Commission apologizes for not being able to declare the Presidential Results at 5:00 pm as scheduled. However, we want to assure the public that the results collection process has been transparent, fair and participatory. He has involved Political Party Agents at all levels: at the Voting Table. Electoral District Collection Center. Regional Snack Center and National Snack Center.

At the time of this release, two representatives from each of the political parties, including representatives from the NDC, are on the Commission, working with Commission staff at the National Collation Center. The process is going well.

We want to assure the public that, contrary to speculation by some sections of the public, the process has been fluid and collaborative.

The Commission will declare the election as soon as it receives the results from the remaining two Regional Collection Centers.

In the meantime, the Commission has published results for seven (7) regions on its social media platforms.
