Nana Boakye Tromo II, the supreme chief of the traditional Duayaw-Nkwanta area, has appealed to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to prioritize the construction of a fire training center for the city to improve training in fire safety.

He said the way was opened for the construction of the fire training academy during the era of former President Mahama, but nothing has been done about it since.

Nana Tromo made the appeal when President Akufo-Addo paid her a courtesy visit on Saturday at his palace in the Tano Norte municipality of the Ahafo region at the beginning of his two-day working tour of the region.

He was accompanied by ministers of state, parliamentarians and officials of the New Patriotic Party.

Nana Tromo said: “The Center is a crucial project that I want to see realized in life.”

He said that the Traditional Council, with the support of the good people of the area, allocated a large tract of land and some building materials to help in its construction, but there was nothing to show.

He commended President Akufo-Addo for his competence and good governance, particularly for the implementation of the Free Secondary Education Policy, despite perceived challenges from its inception.

Nana Tromo said the policy had not only eased the financial burden on parents and guardians, but had also created opportunities for all needy but bright high school graduates to get a high school education.

President Akufo-Addo, for his part, said that the fire project would be highly beneficial for the country and assured that his government will take the necessary measures to ensure its construction and completion.
