The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has given the green light to drinking bars while observing appropriate social distancing and hygiene protocols.

However, nightclubs remain closed, according to a statement released by the GTA on Monday, May 11.

The statement also said that food chains and restaurants could operate pick-up and delivery services while respecting appropriate social distancing and hygiene protocols.

“In all situations, hospitality facilities must observe workplace and personnel management protocols and precautionary measures at public meetings in order to achieve social distancing and hygiene protocols as detailed in the Instrument for the Imposition of Restrictions (Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Pandemic), 2020 (IE 64), “said the statement.

DIRECTIVES FOR THE HOSPITALITY SECTOR – MAY 11312020

Following the President’s speech to the nation on Sunday, May 10, 2020, the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, Art and Culture issues the following guidelines for the hotel industry:

1. All hotels can function normally and accommodate their guests, subject to the specified high hygiene and social distancing protocols.

2. Food chains and restaurants can operate both collection and delivery and delivery services while respecting appropriate social distancing and hygiene protocols.

3. All nightclubs must remain closed.

4. Drinking bars can function while observing proper social distancing and hygiene protocols.

5. In all situations, hospitality facilities must observe workplace and personnel management protocols and precautionary measures in public meetings in order to achieve social distancing and hygiene protocols as detailed in the Imposition of restrictions (coronavirus disease pandemic (COVID-19)) Instrument, 2020 (IE 64).
