Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has advised young people not to view politics as a means of earning money, but as a means of improving society.
According to him, young people must equip themselves with the necessary knowledge and finances before entering politics.
This, the former president explained, will help them stay away from bribery and corruption.
Speaking at the induction of 30 academics recruited for the Kufour Scholars Program on leadership and mentoring, he said: “I am telling you not to try to take shortcuts to advance. I did not come for money through politics, I hinted that I was born in a privilege “.
He explained that it is essential that young people maintain their integrity while working to serve the community and not make money off people.
The former president, who is also president of the Kufuor Foundation, added that if people are not of rich origin, they must assume that going into politics will make them rich.
“You want to do a good job in politics, you don’t need to corrupt yourself, do your job well but always knowing how to live within your limits.”
