President Akufo-Addo has asked voters to come out to vote with just one week left for the general election.
He told New Patriotic Party supporters to come out in their numbers on Election Day and vote, adding that every vote is important to your re-election.
Addressing party supporters in Kwesimintim in the western region, the president also called on party loyalists to reject independent candidates campaigning on the basis of the PNP.
His appeal follows several incumbent PNP deputies from the region who lost their seats in the primaries, and who went ahead to compete for the parliamentary seat independently, with the support of PNP sympathizers in their areas.
But President Akufo-Addo believes those candidates should be ignored.
“I have heard some rumors about the skirt and blouse to vote. We do not want any skirt and blouse to be voted on. My last request is that on Monday next week, when we go to vote, I beg all eligible voters not to sit at home. Some will say ‘Nana already won so I don’t need to vote’, but if you haven’t voted, Nana hasn’t won. “
The parliamentary candidate for the constituency, Dr. Prince Hamid Armah, said the government has also done much in the last four years to deserve another term.
President Akufo-Addo’s visit to the Western Region follows his visit to the Mfansteman constituency in the Central Region for the burial of Ekow Hayford, the murdered MP from that constituency.
There, the PNP had asked voters to vote en masse for the party to keep them in office.
