The deputy campaign manager of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mustapha Hamid, has denied claims by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to fix the energy crisis that hit the country in 2015-2016 before leaving office.
At a press conference on Monday, Dr. Mustapha Hamid said that the NDC’s claim to resolve the power crisis before leaving the office cannot be accurate judging by available statistics.
According to him, it was the government led by Akufo-Addo that solved the crisis when it took over from NDC administration in 2017.
“As soon as people have forgotten that for three years we slept in the dark. For three years, businesses in this country had collapsed due to the crash. “
The Development and Zongo minister then advised Ghanaians not to forget about the dreaded ‘dumsor’ period that crippled many businesses, including the nation’s economy.
“We have taken the new comfort for granted and have forgotten that it has not always been this way. The vision and conviction of President Akufo-Addo has been necessary to restore the dignity and sanity of our country and its people ”.
Dr. Mustapha Hamid also provided a breakdown of the number of power outages from 2015 to 2017.
“NDC did not resolve the dumsor as they have been promoting because in 2015, there were 886 hours 44 minutes of power outages, 41 hours and 7 minutes of power outages in 2017, so it cannot be true that NDC resolved the dumsor” explained Dr. Hamid.
In view of this, he asked Ghanaians to vote en masse for the PNP on December 7.
