Disinfection exercise begins in secondary schools

Secondary schools in the Volta region, numbering a total of 129, are currently in the third phase of disinfection.

Some of the schools disinfected on the first day in the Volta region were Ola Girls SHS, Wallahs Academy SHS, Prosper College, Mawuko Girls’ High School, Mawuli SHS, Adaklu SHS among others.

The exercise being conducted by the Ministry of Education (MoE) and the Ghana Education Service (GES), in collaboration with Zoomlion Ghana Limited, is part of the government’s efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

The sanitation team disinfected the facilities including dining rooms, function rooms, administrative pavilions, libraries, ICT blocks, dormitories, bungalows, classrooms among others of the different schools.

In addition to Zoomlion’s disinfection equipment, the company also used its sprays to spray open spaces and school surfaces.

Speaking to the media, the Director of Communications and Corporate Affairs, Emma Akyea-Boakye, pointed out that today eight schools in Ho Township will be disinfected, while the other schools in other districts will take place simultaneously.

The exercise will also be extended to basic schools.

In this phase some 2,600 basic schools will also be disinfected ”, he suggested.
