Dimitar Berbatov admits he is not surprised by the pressure on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after a poor start to the 2020/21 season with Manchester United.

United opened their league account by losing at home to Crystal Palace and followed the weekend by suffering a 6-1 loss to Tottenham at Old Trafford, with a fortunate win over Brighton in the middle.

Berbatov believes that Solskjaer is still suitable for the job at the moment, but insists that results must improve or United could be left with no other option later on.

“Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has received some criticism recently, I can understand why the odds are that he is the coach most likely to leave his post, especially if they continue down this path,” Berbatov told Betfair.

“The pressure on him will continue to grow, and if they continue without scoring, the time will likely come for action to be taken. I think he is still fine for the job personally and we’ll have to see.”

Meanwhile, Berbatov also added his thoughts on the links between former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino and United.

“For me it is amazing that Mauricio Pochettino is available for this job, one of the best coaches in football in my opinion,” added the Bulgarian. “You can say that maybe he waited for this job, but it’s very risky for a coach, and I can’t believe that another club hasn’t hired him. Pochettino may be ‘the man’, but at some point they were all ‘the man. ‘- Moyes, van Gaal, Mourinho, they were all the next savior at one stage.

“For United fans, I would say that everyone connected to the team in some way is suffering. The ones who will express their feelings the strongest will be the fans, and I can understand this. United is run by people who want success for themselves. club, and the glory days will return, there is no doubt about that, only when is that, is the question. “
