Dimitar Berbatov could have graced the White Hart Lane field for a couple of seasons, but he certainly left a mark during his time in North London.
The striker’s class was immediately evident when he arrived at the Bayer Leverkusen Spurs in the summer of 2006 and helped north Londoners achieve league cup glory.
His performances finally earned him the move to Manchester United in September 2018 for £ 30.75 million (Guardian).
Berbatov went on to have four successful seasons at Old Trafford, where he won the Premier League title twice.
Despite spending more time at United and winning more trophies there, the Bulgarian has revealed that he is equally fond of Spurs and United.
When asked by a fan during a Q&A on Instagram (as broadcast by Football.London), if he prefers Spurs or United, Berbatov replied, “How many times do I need to answer this question? It’s like wondering which of my children I love the most.
“I love both teams to the death and I also love and respect every team I used to play for. Simple.”
The striker also named the goal he scored against Charlton in Tottenham’s 2-0 win in the Valley in 2007 as one of the first three goals of his career.
Berbatov shook Ledley King’s long pass behind Talal El Karkouri and ran for the ball before the defender and finished with composure to give the Spurs the lead.
When asked to name his favorite goal, the 39-year-old said: “There are too many to choose just one, but perhaps the top three.
“Against Roma with Leverkusen, against Liverpool with United and probably against Charlton with Tottenham.”
“Berbatov! Absolutely stunning!”

Berbatov was certainly a success at Manchester United, but I don’t think he has reached the same heights for the Red Devils as for the Spurs. The two years the forward spent at White Hart Lane was where he probably enjoyed the best form of his career.
