Former Manchester United player Diego Forlan has explained why he believes Edinson Cavani is an important asset to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team.
The experienced Uruguayan joined on the deadline for free, much to the dismay of the club’s fans.
The fans are growing bigger and bigger and they are certainly now excited to see Cavani in action for United.
However, initially fans couldn’t understand why Cavani was hired at the last minute when he has been a free agent all summer.
Nonetheless, the former PSG player is a quality addition to the squad and will provide a lot of competition to Anthony Martial for the forward position.
According to the South China Morning Post, Forlan said: “Edinson is still a great player. I haven’t seen any decline in it yet.
“I think he is an outstanding signing for United, as was Zlatan. He’s that kind of player. He will lead by example, by how he trains and how he plays.
“It will be a positive influence for the young players. He is a winner who has won many trophies, a scorer who has scored where he has been, also assists.
“He is strong and his physique will be good for English football. He’s fast, he’s very motivated. “
When Zlatan Ibrahimovic was at Manchester United he definitely had a good impact in the dressing room, even winning the Carabao Cup and the Europa League in his first season.
The seasoned Swede is now breaking up with AC Milan and showing how much life he has left in his legs.
If Cavani can have a similar impact, he too will be considered a good signing and the hope is that he can stay fit to do so.
One of the main criticisms of the signing of the powerful forward was that he has been prone to injury, so it’s another thing he has to prove wrong.
