The hearing impaired community in the northern region, Deaf Youth for the PNP, who strongly supported the New Patriotic Party (PNP) campaign during the December elections, has congratulated President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo and all members of the PNP of parliament elected by victory. in the 2020 general election.
Speaking in an interview, the founder of the group, Ms. Radia Adama Saani praised Ghanaians for the peaceful way in which they conducted themselves during the elections.
“Ghanaians have shown that our democracy is really maturing. The behavior displayed throughout the campaign period, up to the time of the elections and after the declaration of results suggests that all of our citizens really appreciate our fragile democracy.”
The businessman and politician explained that Ghana’s image on the world stage would be further enhanced by the collective support that the people of Ghana gave to the governance process.
This, he pointed out, would affect democracy, peace, the stability of the country and, ultimately, would translate into a sustainable development of the country.
She recalled how executives from the group she founded identified as Young Deaf by NPP, backed the “four more campaign” launched by the NPP.
This special group, under the supervision of its leader Radia Saani, campaigned effectively in the northern region among deaf society using sign language in electoral districts such as Yendi, Karaga, Gushegu, Kumbungu, Tamale Central, Sagnarigu, Savulugu, etc. .
The founder who launched the group in November 2020 in Tamale managed to bring together several PNP dignitaries to honor the occasion. According to the founder, her main objective, in the first place, was to bridge the gap between the party and the hearing impaired community in the country, especially in the north.
She said that after her engagement to Abdul Shakur Issifu, the group’s president, she surprisingly discovered a number of challenges they face. She had explained that she would work with the relevant authorities to give a voice to the hearing impaired community.
He also stressed that the party would not discriminate against any group in the country, including the community with physical disabilities.
He also assured them of the plans drawn up by the National Organizer of the Sammy Awuku Nuclear Power Plant to create an umbrella organization needed to care for all disabled groups in the country to continue supporting the noble course of the party.
The municipal executive director (MCE) of the municipality of Nagnarigu in the northern region, Hajia Mariam Iddrisu, who was one of the invited speakers, reiterated the commitment to address the problems faced by people with disabilities and an initiative taken to propose the provision of hearing impaired secondary schools in all regions of the country.
For the founder of the group, the fact that President Akufo-Addo was retained with an unprecedented vote to ensure the governance of the second term and that the majority of the Members of Parliament (MP) win their seats was enough to excite the hearing impaired community in the country. .
“They really appeared in the campaign and during the elections, so I firmly believe that their work and sweat have not been in vain.
We want to congratulate once again President Akufo-Addo for gaining the support of Tom – Dick and Harry to beat their opponents and emerge victorious during the elections, “he concluded.
