The dates for the motion of censure of the president of the Barça club, Josep Maria Bartomeu, have been proposed for November 1 and 2.

The club has proposed the two days – a Sunday and a Monday – to the General Secretariat of Sport of the Generalitat, who must now confirm the suggestion, since it covers both a weekend day and a weekday, so it should attract a wide range of partners. , according to El Mundo Deportivo.

20,687 votes were gathered for the motion against the supreme, surpassing the threshold of 16,250 signatures, with that number now matched in terms of verified club signatures.

Bartomeu’s position at Barcelona has come under great scrutiny of late after a trophy-free campaign combined with Lionel Messi’s forced exit from the club, which the management blocked.

Last month, Catalan police indicted the embattled supreme club on corruption charges, although Bartomeu continues to deny such allegations.

His term as club president will officially end next year with elections called for March, but a group of fans wants to force a departure before this year, according to Diari Catalunya.

Bartomeu has held the position for two terms, but will nominate a ‘continuity’ candidate who is close to the incumbent and comes from a side of the club’s board that is seen as more conservative.

The Catalan businessman took office in 2014, after the resignation of Sandro Rosell, who was his close friend and partner and served as his vice president.

All candidates come from different sections within the club hierarchy, with different views on how the club should be run and what it stands for.
