Dansoman Roundabout is named after Theresa Tagoe
Dansoman Rotunda is named after the late Ablekuma South / West constituency MP who founded the New Patriotic Party (NPP) women’s wing, Theresa Tagoe.
In addition, a statue has been displayed to honor the life and service of the late deputy, ten (10) years from her death to eternity.
Speaking at the commemorative ceremony as part of the second day of his two-day campaign tour of the Greater Accra region, which was organized by the Member-in-Office of Parliament for the West Ablekuma constituency, Ursula Owusu Ekuful, President Akufo-Addo described the late legislator as “a politician of the first order.”
“We have gathered here today on a sad but joyous occasion, sad because we have come to remind ourselves of the passage of a colleague, who was a brave member of our fight for freedom and democracy in Ghana.”
“It is also a happy occasion because we are reminded of today’s ceremony in which if you leave a life of contribution, a life of participation, a life of assistance to your community, your community will not forget you.”
Hon. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful made the announcement on her Facebook page after the event, saying: “Led by President Nana Akufo-Addo, the NPP held a memorial service to pay an enthusiastic tribute to the former Member of Parliament (MP) by Ablekuma South, Theresa Tagoe, on Dansoman in the Ablekuma West constituency. “
“Her memory is still alive ten (10) years after her death. She paved the way for generations of women politicians to follow her despite adversity, and made it known to the whole world that, without women as partners in development, no nation can develop. We are proud of his legacy. We are proud of the work he did in the constituency, the government, and the PNP. “
“In honor of her memory, the Dansoman Rotunda is named after her, that is, the THERESA AMERLEY TAGOE Rotunda. We will never forget you Theresa Amerley Tagoe. May her soul continue to rest in the bosom of the Almighty.”
