Desmond Blackmore, also known as D Black, says he suspected the UN-Kofi Annan awards were fake, but didn’t trust the signals or his instincts.
In recounting his feelings in a series of tweets after some social media users started trolling him and his other colleagues, the businessman and musician stated that as new photos of him and his award-winning colleagues appear on social media , have fun.
He said: “The nu sef ‘event’ when Sark and I sat down noor, the mc gbaaa 3 times noor wey I look at Sark and start to shake my head. About 30 minutes after we arrive, The Mc says to the band, “Please put on some other music for them.” Music paaa o, music lol. The band also replied ‘Ooooooh ah’! dem tire. Dere nooor we started laughing. We should have left at that time. “
D Black indicated that he should have left after several strange signs appeared.
“Then Sark got his award, and I wasn’t really watching or following the procedures after that. I was on my phone after clapping my hands. Then he returned with the golden cup. I thought to myself hmmm A cup? I should have left right then and there.
He continued: “I told my brother @iamfadicharles that we are leaving in 15 minutes, I cannot continue with this garbage. No or this man came out of nowhere and took the MC’s mic and started MCing the ‘event’. The man speaks aaa speaks says “when I was in Harvard”. I should have left right then and there hahaha, ”his tweet read.

Then Sark got his award, and I wasn’t really watching or following the procedures after that. I was on my phone after clapping my hands. Then he returned with the golden cup. I thought to myself … hmmm. A cup ? I should have left them and there.

D Black added that he had told his sons after Sarkodie returned with his golden cup that they should leave the event grounds, but they immediately decided to leave the awards ceremony, then his name was mentioned. So, he majestically walked to the podium and received his UN-Kofi Annan ‘badge’ which is still on his car booth.

He also added that he was on Aqua Safari with his friends having a good time when Abeiku Santana called him to check his Twitter timeline because he was trending, at the time he didn’t know what was really going on.
D Black further narrated that when his promotions manager first sent him the details of the program, he suspected that all was not well with the organizers because they gave him a brochure as tickets for seven people.
He explained that while he was at the event he saw Nathaniel Attoh, a Multimedia reporter, coming down with a golden horse, so he decided to question him: “Big brother, is this legit? He said yes. I said ‘promise’, I swear !! Then I got a call and forgot, but I still sat down. I should have left right then and there. LOL “.
D Black, along with Sarkodie, Bernard Okoe-Boye, President Wontumi, Alban Bagbin, Ebenezer Oduro Owusu, who is the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana, and many others, were misled into believing they were beneficiaries of an awards program owned by the UN, but it turned out they were the victims of a scam.
