The Director General of the National Sports Authority, Professor. Peter Twumasi has shared that his team will investigate Aduana Stars after their fans defied Covid-19 protocols against Hearts of Oak on Wednesday in Dormaa.

The current season is played behind closed doors as part of measures to curb the spread of the new virus.

It is in light of this that the government donated GHC900,000 to the 18 clubs to help them cushion their activities due to the impact of the virus.

Surprisingly, there were hundreds of fans in the stands watching the game with utter disregard for social distancing protocols.

Fans were seen in the stands drumming and cheering for the home team that won the game 2-0.

According to Twumasi, the two-time Ghana Premier League champions will be punished if it is established that they defied the Covid-19 protocols established by the government.

“The Nana Agyemang Badu II sports stadium is not under the NSA, but we have a responsibility to monitor, we are learning about what happened yesterday in Dormaa, where fans were seen in the stands,” he told Accra. Atinka FM.

“As we speak at this time, my regional director and the regional police commander are in Dormaa to investigate the matter and will write to the GFA and the clubs involved and, if found guilty, they will be punished by law.”

He also reiterated that it is not necessary to compare political rallies with fans who go to stadiums to support their clubs.

“Don’t compare political rallies with soccer events; The application of the covid-19 protocols in a confined place is different from the open area because in the open place, you are likely to be protected than in a semi-closed stadium, so the situation is different, “he added.
