Disappointment has hit soccer fans in Ghana after the epic clash between Customs and Accra Hearts of Oak was canceled due to COVID-19.
Customs was supposed to host Hearts of Oak at Dormaa’s Nana Agyemang Badu Park on Saturday, November 14, 2020.
The Ghana Football Association saw the need to cancel the local league game that was supposed to be the first match of the 2020/2021 season as a result of COVID -19.
Medical tests of Customs and Hearts of Oak officials and players yielded some worrying results.
Hearts of Oak revealed last week that three players tested positive for the corona virus.
Then GFA Exceutive informed all interested parties that the match had been canceled.
An official statement on the GFA website confirmed:
“The clash of the first day of the first day of the Ghana Aduana Stars against Hearts of Oak has been canceled.
This decision was made after the GFA was informed that Hearts of Oak players and officials will need further testing before playing a game.
Ghana Health Service to conduct further tests. “
In the meantime, the GFA has yet to confirm all other games that are to be played on Sunday or not.
