The Convention People’s Party (CPP) has announced the opening of nominations for its parliamentary candidates for the 2020 Ghana general elections.
Nominations will take place September 10-17, 2020.
The CCP General Secretary Nana Yaa Akyempim Jantuah said that any party member who wants to be considered a candidate to participate in the upcoming elections should have paid their membership fee in full.
Candidates who wish to be nominated must have registered in the same constituency that you wish to run as a parliamentary candidate.
In a letter to party members dated September 8, 2020, the Secretary General said that “the candidate must demonstrate faith and commitment to the ideology and philosophy of the party and be prepared to compete in the primaries to be organized in the district. electoral”.
Nana Jantuah said that prospective candidates or their representatives can purchase the attached Nomination Form from the Regional Secretary for a non-refundable fee of GHC 200.00 and a nomination filing fee of GHC 1000.00.
According to the letter, made available to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Accra, the opening of the nominations must be communicated in the Regions through local media.
The letter reminded aspiring CPP parliamentary candidates to keep in mind that under the amended party constitution, polling station executives are part of the electorate at later party conferences.
“Therefore, the importance of organizing polling station executives cannot be underestimated,” the letter emphasizes, adding that “the closing date and other relevant details will be communicated” to members later.
