The Abeka District Court has appealed to the family of Benjamin Okyere, the tenant who was killed in cold blood by his landlord, to exercise restraint while investigations into the suspect’s whereabouts are investigated.

The court ordered a second time that the investigator of the case appear before him to answer certain questions about the murder case.

The court that presided over Ms. Adwoa Akyaama Ofosu’s appeal came after the deceased father, Joseph Okyere, told the court that the deceased’s family currently fears for their lives because the defendant, Stephen Nana Kamkam, who was put in preventive detention by the court. it cannot be traced in any of the prisons.

According to the deceased father, checks were carried out in the Nsawam and Ankaful prisons and the defendant was not shown to be in any of the prisons.

According to Mr. okyere, his fears were confirmed after the defendant’s mother declared that her son would never sleep in jail and that she would ensure that her son was released.

Due to the allegations raised by the deceased father, the court adjourned the matter until September 9 to allow the investigator of the case to come and answer the court’s questions.

According to the court, he cannot wait two weeks after the accusations.

Prosecutor’s inspector Rita Kondau previously informed the court that she had transmitted information about the court’s invitation extended to the investigator of the case, so she could not say why she did not appear in court today.

Prosecuting Inspector Konadu, who kept brief, said that the substantive prosecutor in the matter, Chief Inspector Stephen Ahialey, was on the way and that police were still awaiting advice from the attorney general.

Stephen Nana Kamkam, the owner of Ofankor, allegedly murdered his tenant Benjamin Okyere in cold blood for the rent.

It should be remembered that Kamkam, a businessman, was arrested by the police when he allegedly shot and killed Okyere, his tenant and musician for rent on May 25 of this year.

Kamkam, also known as Nii Kojo Konim Obio-Cyhoera, has been provisionally charged with the murder of Benjamin Okyere, a musician, but the Court has preserved his statement.

The prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Ahialey, had previously told the court that the deceased was a musician who lived in Ofankor Spot-M and Kamkam, his owner was in real estate and residing in the same neighborhood.
The prosecution said that two years ago, the deceased rented an apartment to the defendant, but the lease expired on May 24 of this year.

He said Okyere opted to renew the lease, which Kamkam agreed to, but then changed his mind and therefore asked Okyere to leave the apartment and to go away and hand over the keys.

The prosecution said that on the afternoon of May 25, Kamkam took his loaded gun, hired a taxi and went to Okyere’s residence.

He said that upon arriving at the scene, he got out of the taxi, called Okyere at the door and asked him to hand over the keys to his apartment.

The prosecution said that the deceased, who was aware of Kamkam’s behavior, had previously called a certain John Bosco Kotah, a friendly police officer by phone to help him.

He said that when Kotah arrived, he saw Kamkam in possession of the gun, so he freaked out and ran to Okyere’s room and picked up a phone to call another friend from the police to help them.

Chief Inspector Ahialey said that by then the deceased was at the front door with the defendant without provocation, opened fire and shot Okyere four times at point-blank range.

He said that when Kotah heard the shots, he left the room only to see the defendant flee, so he chased Kamkam from a distance, but fearing that the defendant might harm him, he returned to tend Okyere.

Prosecutors said Okyere was rushed to Anecja Hospital in Tantra Hills and then sent to Achimota Mile Seven Police Station, where a formal complaint was filed.

He said Okyere was later rushed to the Police Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Chief Inspector Ahialey said a team of police officers, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police George Asare, proceeded to forensic evidence from the crime scene.

He said that four spent AA cartridges were recovered at the scene and that the defendant was later arrested at his residence at Ofankor Spot-M.

The prosecution said that two bomb-action pistols, loaded with seven and eight rounds of cartridges respectively, were found in his room.
