A High Court in Accra has stopped a memorial meeting planned by clients of the defunct Menzgold gold trading company.

Injured customers had planned the convergence on Saturday to mark the deaths of about 64 members who they say have died suddenly since the government shut down the company two years ago.

Police Inspector General James Oppong-Bonuah issued an order to stop the demonstration.

“Defendants, Menzgold Ghana Aggrieved Clients Coalition, Isaac Nyarko and Fred Forson are hereby ordered to refrain from the demonstration scheduled to commemorate the two-year collapse of the Menzgold Company,” the court order prohibiting the meeting said. .

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) ordered the closure of the nationwide gold trading company on Thursday, September 12, 2019.

It also prevented the company from making new investments.

Meanwhile, all Menzgold clients who did not earn a dividend equal to their initial investment will get their money back if the NDC wins the 2020 election, the party’s National Youth Organizer said.
