The National Labor Commission has obtained an interlocutory court order against the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRMA) to prevent them from embarking on their strike proposal as of Monday, September 21, 2020.
Therefore, the Accra Superior Court (Labor Division Court 1) chaired by Judge Frank Aboagye Rockson has ordered the nurses to sit down with the National Labor Commission (NLC) to resolve their complaints.
The Ghana Registered Nurse and Midwives Association (GRNMA) notified the government on Thursday, September 17, 2020 that its members and allied associations, including the Ghana Association of Medical Assistants and the Ghana Association of Certified Registered Anesthetists, will withdraw their services. from Monday, September 21, 2020. 2020.
According to the association, the strike was part of their demands to improve the conditions of service.
In the press issued on Thursday, September 17, 2020 by the Association, the nurses argued that the government’s position during the negotiations contradicted Law 651 of the Labor Law, which deals with issues in good faith for the interested parties, which the association seems to have . a problem with.
The statement jointly signed by the presidents of GRNMA, the Ghana Association of Medical Assistants and the Ghana Association of Certified Registered Anesthetists also directed the general public to seek medical care from other health facilities.
“The employer is hereby notified that registered registered nurses, midwives, medical assistants and anesthetists will withdraw their services as of Monday, September 21, 2020 if they do not address the concerns raised by the GRNMA team,” the statement said.
“All registered registered nurses, midwives, physician assistants (PAs) and anesthetists (CARS) in ALL public institutions are ordered to withdraw their services as of 8:00 am on Monday, September 21, 2020.
“The general public is advised to seek medical attention in other health facilities.”
