Mr. Kwaku Agyeman-Manu – Minister of Health

The Minister of Health, Mr. Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, has called on everyone to avoid talking unnecessarily to prevent the spread of the disease by Coronavirus (COVID-19).

“Many of us are talking unnecessarily and if you are infected, you open your mouth and the virus comes out. If you don’t need to speak, don’t speak especially when you don’t have the mask. They tell us that we shouldn’t even laugh, especially when you don’t have the mask. We shouldn’t even sing. If we don’t observe these basic guidelines, the disease will continue to spread, “he emphasized.

Agyeman-Manu made this comment at a press conference on Thursday, May 14, 2020.

His statement is based on research by the US National Institutes of Health. USA It indicates that thousands of drops from the mouths of those who speak aloud can remain in the air for eight to 14 minutes before disappearing.

“We are asked to look at social estrangement, but some of us behave as if we have not heard what is happening. Therefore, we must begin to accept the fact that the disease will be here for a time, but we must try to slow down the rate at which we are spreading and infecting ourselves, “added Mr. Agyeman-Manu.

The Minister of Health also urged the public to observe all precautionary measures associated with preventing the spread of the virus.

“We cannot stop economic activities in the country … so we must do something that allows us to return to our normal lives. Gradually, these things are becoming part of our normal lives and we all must agree to obey or follow these guidelines, “he said.

He also said that while complying may seem awkward, “when we are not in normal times, you manage what surrounds you.”

As of Thursday, May 14, Ghana’s coronavirus cases had increased to 5,530 with 674 recoveries and 24 deaths.
