There was chaos at the city’s electoral college of engineers in the Odododiodoo constituency in the Greater Accra region after some voters made their way to the center despite the presence of security officers.
Voters who had formed a long line in front of the center’s main entrance were forced into the voting station.
Security officers had a hard time controlling the crowd as they were dominated by impatient voters who had been in the queue since the early hours of Monday, December 7.
The election officials overseeing the process were also unable to do anything to calm the crowd.
However, after forcibly arriving at the station, some voters faced fists because they were unable to reorganize in the queues that had already formed outside the main entrance.
Nii Ayikwei Okine of Citi News, who was on the scene, reported that some disgruntled voters alleged that the EC and security officials were circumventing the process by allowing people who had not joined the line to enter the premises.
“We came here at dawn to line up, but after hours of being here, the officers will just come and let some people in. The cops aren’t doing anything about it, they’re just here watching without taking any action. They are not giving us the opportunity to enter, that’s why we had to force entry ”, lamented one of the voters.
