Confusion continues to devastate the burial of former Ghanaian President Jerry Rawlings, as there is still no agreement between the family and chiefs on his burial site.
The last overlord of the Volta region to suggest a place for his burial is that of the traditional Tefle area, Togbe Nakakpo Dugbaza VIII. His appeal is that the former president be buried in one of his properties in Tefle, in the Volta region.
Your reason? Togbe Nakakpo Dugbaza VIII claims that the late former president had once revealed to him his desire to be buried on the property.

In issuing a letter to the public about this development, the boss revealed that Jerry Rawlings was a lover of nature and admires water and rivers. Togbe claims that he even dissuaded Rawlings from his wish because the island he wanted to be buried on is the Akosombo Dam spillway.
As of now, the date of Rawlings’ burial has yet to be announced as arrangements drag on. Media sources say that the family and the Volta region council of elders do not agree on the appropriate funeral arrangement for him.

Rawlings’ death has seen the clergy of Ghana bring their tributes. The founder of the International Central Church of the Gospel (ICGC), Mensa Otabil, took a break from his Sunday sermon to pray for the family of the late former President Flt. Lieutenant Jerry Rawlings.
The clergy have come under fire from the late president, who has repeatedly reprimanded them for their contribution to corruption in the country.

Thousands of tributes have already been poured out in commiseration with the Rawlings family. The condolence book will also be opened to the public at the Accra International Conference Center and the president and other diplomats are expected in the first days of the week.
Jerry Rawlings died after contracting the coronavirus, the former president, according to medical officials, suffered complications from Covid-19. His death also sparked several rumors that his widow contracted the virus, claims of which they have denied.
