Edward Nii Odoom takes over the club’s youth team, Auroras

Odoom, who had been in charge of the Phobians since the departure of the club’s football director and head coach, Kim Grant, in December last year, has taken over responsibility for Heart’s youth team, Auroras, effective immediately.

Papic, 60, returns to the Phobians 11 years after leading them to the 2008/09 Ghana Premier League title during his one-year tenure at the club. By the way, it was the last time Hearts won the Ghana elite league.

The Serb’s presence in the stands at Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday when Heart lost 1-0 to Inter Allies immediately fueled speculation that he would occupy the top spot as the Phobians seek to regain their lost glory.

He will be assisted by Asare Bediako, who was appointed assistant coach in November.

Papic takes over a team that has managed just one point from two games this season and sits at the bottom of the league record. His first mission will be to lead the Phobians against the league’s leader, Karela United, in the week four game in Accra on Friday.

Since leaving the shores of Ghana, the Serb continued his career on the continent where he coached various clubs, including the Tanzania Youth Africans, South African teams Black Leopards, Chippa United, Polokwane City and Royal Eagles.

He was appointed national coach of eSwatini (formerly known as Swaziland) in December 2018 and left office in December 2019.
