The Ashanti regional branch of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has revealed that some health workers at Komfo Anokye University Hospital treat patients without wearing masks.

Some caregivers expressed concern about how management handles Covid-19 cases, which they say put their lives in danger.

Talking to JoyNewsGMA President Dr. Paa Kwesi Baidoo said that in an attempt to address the situation, they noticed that some of the staff members were not observing security protocols.

“We also noticed the lack of adherence to the mask among the workers, in fact, the hospital staff.”

“… We have been noticing this. We tell them and it’s like a joke, “he continued.

According to him, it is not a lack of PPE, but a worrying disregard for protocols.

“They gave us musk as we spoke. I can safely tell you that we have a mask. We have a glass. “

Describing the development as tacky, the GMA president revealed that the situation “even led the medical director of Komfo Anokye University Hospital to issue a memorandum, I think two or three weeks ago, reminding all staff about the need to wear masks and other PPE in the hospital. “

In light of this, the GMA is recommending sanctions for healthcare workers who do not comply.

“So we even suggest to management that these appear to be our colleagues, but we believe the time has come to apply or impose some form of sanctions on personnel who do not adhere to these protocols,” added Dr. Paa Kwesi Baidoo. .
