The Bono East Regional Security Council has hinted that a committee has been established to investigate the incident of the shooting in the Techiman South constituency during the December 7 election.

The constituency election was characterized by some acts of violence that claimed two lives and injured several after a fight between NDC supporters, the ruling PNP and some security agents.

The incident came after some NDC supporters alleged that the incumbent government tried to rig the elections.

According to them, this led to misunderstanding between NDC supporters and EC officials.

Condemning the act, the regional minister, Kofi Amoakohene, declared that electoral violence should be a thing of the past in a country like Ghana with revered democratic credentials.

“I am not saying who is right or who is wrong, but Ghana must grow beyond that in democracy, which is why we have condemned the act.”

Amoakohene spoke at the first council meeting after the 2020 general election.

According to him, the committee has tasked the electoral security working group with investigating the incident and submitting a report.

“We assure the public that because an electoral working group was established, we are placing the responsibility on them, including the regional CID, to present their report and the report will be released to the public.
