A group calling itself Patriotic Agenda Pushers (PAP) affiliated with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has asked Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia to show that he does not support the circulation of materials announcing him as the next NPP leader.

Posters promoting Dr. Bawumia as the standard-bearer of the PNP in 2024 have gone viral on social media, raising concern among some party supporters who believe the vice president is breaking the party’s rules and regulations as the party has not opened nominations for the 2024 flagger race.

Another group identifying itself as the NPP Grassroots has said that Dr. Bawumia’s flag-bearer’s premature campaign could lead the party into opposition.

However, Dr. Bawumia has remained silent and has not publicly endorsed or denied standing behind the posters projecting him as the next party leader.

Contributing to this, the PAP in a statement wants Dr. Bawumia to distance himself from those cartels, as it goes against the party’s rules and regulations.

“We urge the office of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to show that it does not support these divisive trends and to immediately issue a warning to the rank and file of the party to desist from circulating communications suggesting promoting him as the next leader. of the NPP, ”the PAP said in a statement.

The group also demanded that the PNP’s National Executive Committee distance itself from the emerging pro-Bawumia group and other pro-candidate groups and instigate possible punitive measures to deter others.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, was declared the winner of the presidential elections with a confirmation from the Supreme Court a few weeks ago.

This victory reminds us that we have yet another opportunity to solidify our achievements, since ours is a party that represents the interests of our people. Of course, we have no excuse for failing the people of Ghana, especially when it is clear that the hard and hard work of our ancestors, including those of the venerable President John Agyekum Kufour, over a limited period of 8 years between 2000 and 2008, significantly transformed the socioeconomic situation. situation of the Ghanaians.

As history shows us, Sterling’s leadership of the ‘pot of wisdom’ was not only marked by national cohesion, but only a sense of unity devoid of prejudice and factionalism was the status of the elephant family despite from the flagrant wishes of some government officials. who were fighting to take command of the leadership after the gentle JAK withdrew.

As a steadfast and unifying leader, President Kufour focused on exhausting his term with distinction knowing full well that those preparing to lead the party would only succeed if the Kufour Administration united the NPP to fulfill its promises to the people. Perhaps not a surprise and explain why, after eight years of a failed NDC administration, Ghanaians were reminded of the good works of President Kufour and approved the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia candidacy by close to one million votes. .

Now, ladies and gentlemen, after the dedicated service of President Nana Addo supported by people like his deputy and other members of his government, including the illustrious Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, Ghanaians have placed renewed hope in us to once again stand by. rise to the occasion and perform well. governance.

To our surprise, ladies and gentlemen, a rather worrying event has received the first days of the second term of President Akufo-Addo. We are perplexed and dumbfounded by the plethora of devices and not a subtle political campaign, but an open campaign in vigorous play, seeking to project Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the next PNP standard-bearer even before the constitution of our great party. the process of internal primaries for the election of leaders that propel our party towards the future is underway.

To the extent that we agree with ideals, freedom of association should thrive within a party that prides itself on believing in development in freedom, we find it daunting and disheartening that some unscrupulous people within our party are just starting out. to shift focus from supporting His Excellency. the president who needs us now more than ever in a post-COVID era to demonstrate once again that we have the men to lift our nation out of crisis and instead pursue a parish political interest.

To add insult to injury, we are alarmed by the deafening silence of the Vice President, H.E. Mr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in whose name this flagrant impunity is taking place for not having called these faithful of the party to order. Here we are reminded to point out that many other prominent party figures have shown concern in calling on these crusaders to stop this unnecessary factionalism, including Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, who warned that these activities, if left unchecked, could lead to us to the opposition.

While we are very pleased with these warnings, we believe that the leaders of the New Patriotic Party must take immediate action to call on people who project presidential ambitions to tone down the rhetoric and allow all internal energies to be channeled towards the fulfillment of the promise to the government. People of Ghana, which is a prerequisite for winning any other election. With this declaration we demand the following:

1. We urge the vice president’s office, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to show that it does not support these divisive trends and to immediately issue a warning to the rank and file of the party to desist from circulating communications suggesting promoting him as the next leader of the party. nuclear power plant

2. We demand that the PNP National Executive Committee distance itself from emerging pro-Bawumia groups and other pro-candidates and instigate possible punitive measures to deter others.

3. Finally, we urge the ranks of the great PNP to calm down and ask the members to support the President of the Republic, Nana Addo, to fulfill his mandate before the people, which is the surest way to prolong our party in the power.

Long live the nuclear power plant, long live Ghana.
