Premier League winners, international scorers and high-level experienced players – there is still plenty of talent for clubs looking to strengthen their squads this season.

After the transfer window for major European leagues closed on Monday, many Premier League clubs will look to the lower leagues, with a national-only window, allowing them to buy EFL players, open until Friday.

But there is also the option of the free agent market, which Man Utd has already taken advantage of by signing Edinson Cavani, with several flashy names who currently have no club.

We have taken a look at some of the free agents out there and we want you to choose your own free agent XI at the bottom of the page.

Who said there were no bargains yet?

Jack WilshereWilshere last played for England in 2016, against Iceland

It’s been two long years for Jack Wilshere.

The midfielder left West Ham on Monday after making 19 appearances in just over two years and with nine months to go from the contract he signed with the club in 2018.

Injuries haven’t helped, something that also plagued him throughout his Arsenal career before the Hammers, but the 28-year-old insists he “feels fit, strong and ready to play.”

An extremely talented player, Wilshere made 197 first-team appearances for Arsenal and was part of the 2014 and 2015 FA Cup winning teams.

He has 34 appearances for England, the last of which was in a 2-1 loss to Iceland in the 2016 European Championship round of 16.

Would a fit and fit Wilshere surely be an advantage for most parties?

Danny WelbeckWelbeck has played in the Premier League for Manchester United, Sunderland, Arsenal and Watford

A Premier League winner, an England international and a proven scorer, and he’s still 29 years old. Not bad for a free agent.

Forward Welbeck was released from his championship Watford contract on Monday, without having appeared this entire season.

He joined the Hornets in August 2019, but only started eight Premier League games out of a total of 20 appearances when the club was relegated.

Welbeck has won 42 games for England and was a member of Gareth Southgate’s squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

He played 142 games for Manchester United, winning the Premier League title in 2013, before joining Arsenal for £ 16 million.

A bargain for someone?

Daniel SturridgeSturridge scored seven goals in 16 games for Trabzonspor last season

The former Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool striker has been a free agent since being fired by Turkish Trabzonspor in March.

The 31-year-old English international was released after being banned from football for four months for violating betting rules.

He played 16 times last season and scored seven goals.

Sturridge was seen training with the 8th division Kidsgrove Athletic last month in a bid to stay in shape.

If a team is looking for goals, could a fit Sturridge be the answer?

Alexandre PatoPato played for the last time with Brazilian Sao Paulo

Brazilian forward Alexandre Pato became a free agent in August after terminating his contract with Sao Paulo, having scored nine goals in 35 appearances.

The 31-year-old had previously been to Tianjin Quanjian in China and scored 36 goals in 60 competitive matches for the club.

Pato, who was briefly on loan to Chelsea in 2016, has made 27 appearances for Brazil, scoring 10 goals and winning medals at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics.

He also scored 63 goals in 150 games for AC Milan between 2007-2013.

Mario MandzukicMandzukic of Croatia scored a goal in extra time in the 2018 World Cup semi-final victory over England

At 34, Croatian forward Mario Mandzukic may be nearing the end of his career, but don’t be surprised to see him again in football soon.

He left Juventus at the end of the 2018-19 season for Qatar’s Al-Duhail, but, after just ten games and two goals, Mandzukic was released and is now available for free.

Mandzukic won four Serie A titles and three Coppa Italia in his time with Juventus, in addition to scoring in the 2017 Champions League final by losing 4-1 to Real Madrid.

He retired from international soccer in August 2018, a month after scoring in the World Cup final when Croatia lost 4-2 to France.

Samir NasriNasri has played in the Premier League for Arsenal, Manchester City and West Ham

Samir Nasri made 220 Premier League appearances, playing for Arsenal from 2008 to 2011 before moving to Manchester City for £ 25 million.

The midfielder played at the Etihad Stadium until 2017 before joining Turkish Antalyaspor.

In 2018, Uefa imposed an 18-month doping ban on him for using an intravenous drip treatment he took at a Los Angeles clinic while on vacation in 2016.

The ban was rolled back, leaving him as a free agent to join West Ham in late 2018, but he was released after one season.

The French midfielder made just eight appearances for Anderlecht last season and is looking for a club again. Nobody?
