Ghana’s Chief of Staff Frema Osei-Opare urges citizens who are part of the first group to be vaccinated to serve themselves and participate in the ongoing immunization exercise.
“We must take life seriously. I know people who have died. People close to me. I know the pain you have inflicted on family and friends.
“If they had this opportunity, they would be alive so that we can all be together.
So, for me, it’s not something negotiable, ”he said.
The Chief of Cabinet received her dose of the AstraZeneca vaccines acquired by the country in its fight against the pandemic on Tuesday.
Speaking to Joynews, Frema Osei-Opare gave an account of the processes through which she was subjected to get vaccinated.
She said: “The lady (health personnel) explains to them what she is going to do and what it is about. And then, in the blink of an eye, it’s done.
“I will say that it is one of the best shots that I have had. I’m someone who is afraid of needles, but in this case, I barely noticed that a needle had stuck me. “
Ms. Frema Opare further commended the government, the Ghana Health Service and the National Covid-19 task force for the good work done to ensure the safety of all Ghanaians.
“It is important to encourage everyone who has had the opportunity to be in the first batch to take advantage of it and hopefully when they get the next batch, the group will be served as well.
“I want people to appreciate that we have a responsible government that is doing the best for our interests and allows us to join in this exercise to make it work for us,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, former President John Dramani Mahama along with his wife received their dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine today.
The former statesman also joined the call for everyone to stand up and participate in the ongoing immunization exercise.
“I believe that all Ghanaians should use vaccines and, in fact, in Africa, we should be less hesitant to take vaccines because we all got vaccinated when we were little, and it is because of these vaccines that our children today do not. he contracts all kinds of diseases such as polio and smallpox among others, ”he said.
He also urged Ghanaians to dismiss rumors that purchased vaccines are not safe for use.
