Chelsea manager Frank Lampard insists that Callum Hudson-Odoi’s current performances are making him “really happy” but said the winger also has “a lot more to come”.
Perennially linked to Bayern Munich, Hudson-Odoi has recorded two goals and two assists in his last four Premier League and FA Cup appearances, despite starting just two of those games.
The 20-year-old, tied up at Stamford Bridge until June 2024, has five goals and two assists this season in 16 games, only eight of which have started.
The immense quality of competition for attacking venues in Chelsea means that speculation has tipped the academy graduate away in the near future.
But Lampard is full of faith in the England international and challenged the open man to find his next levels as he continues to develop.

The Chelsea manager’s comments come after Hudson-Odoi scored one and set up another in a 4-0 win over Morecambe on Sunday.
Lampard said: “Callum is getting better and better, but there is also a lot more to come from Callum.
“I think his application in training, his desire to watch his game, is great.
“And his goal today was a fantastic example of someone running to break the lines and finishing where a striker would be. That’s what wingers have to do today.
“In terms of how long until he makes his case, he’s doing it now.
“In this team we have three natural wingers and another who can play in that position.
“Sometimes I will have to make selection decisions, sometimes he will be there and other times not.
“But right now, because of the way he plays, he’s assisting, scoring goals and that is making me very happy.
“There’s been a push from Callum and there are more changes for him. When he plays like he’s playing, it’s good to expect more from him.”
Billy Gilmour was another one to impress against the League Two Shrimp in the midfield role with the Scotsman making his fifth first-team appearance of the season due to injury.
“I think Billy is pushing and I think Billy has been pushing since he made his breakthrough last season against high-level opposition against Liverpool,” Lampard said.
“He played brilliantly and got the man of the match and played it against Everton in two games, then his injury came shortly after that.”

“From then on and before I knew Billy would be a very, very good player for this club, to say the least even at his young age.
“He’s pushing. He came, he moves the ball well, he did that when he came in against Manchester City last week.”
Having defended Timo Werner and Kai Havertz, who also scored against Morecambe, Lampard also added: U.S.
“What we can’t ask the youngsters on this team at times is to be absolutely consistent and killer like other players in the league in terms of the numbers that they consistently produce and produce.
“That will come for our guys, but at the moment their contributions are good. Callum and Mason too.”
