Chelsea have taken a transfer hit from Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool, who have all joined the race to sign Declan Rice.
The West Ham star tops the wish list for Frank Lampard, who tried to sign him in the summer window.
In the end, a transfer failed as the Blues were unable to go ahead with players like Antonio Rudiger, Marcos Alonso and Jorginho to raise funds.
The Hammers also told Chelsea that Rice was not for sale.
But their determination will be put to the test in January with some of the biggest clubs in the Premier League interested.
According to Todofichajes, United, City and Liverpool are interested in the England international, as well as Chelsea.
All four have contacted West Ham for a transfer, but the London team is still looking to fight any offer.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a known fan of the midfielder, but a summer contract could be more likely.
Despite the arrival of Rodri, Pep Guardiola has found his midfield invaded at times this season, especially on the counter, and Rice denies it.
Liverpool have had the same problem at times, and the 21-year-old’s versatility is also a huge advantage.
However, Chelsea are the most interested in Rice’s services and remain the favorite as the club he grew up with before being released at the age of 14.
But Todofichajes further reports that West Ham is looking to tie him to a new contract that would see him extend his stay in East London until 2026.
Otherwise, the Hammers could charge a hefty fee, especially with the growing interest in him.
Lampard is a huge Rice fan and former Chelsea star Tony Cascarino has told the Blues boss what to expect from him if he hires him.
“Declan Rice can protect people,” he said.
“I learned this early in my career, one of the greatest skills you can have is doing the simple things really well and if you can, you will be a great player.”
In addition to Rice, Chelsea have been linked to a play by AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and Bayern Munich star David Alaba.
Both will be out of the contract at the end of the season and their future is up in the air.
