Chelsea has new hopes of achieving the bold transfer of Lionel Messi

Chelsea are ‘definitely in the equation’ for Lionel Messi if the Argentine superstar leaves Barcelona next summer.

That’s according to Spanish soccer expert Guillem Balague, who has been talking about where Messi could end up after his contract at Camp Nou expires in the summer.

There was talk that the 33-year-old would join Manchester City last summer with Chelsea also linked. Messi really wanted to leave Catalonia, but despite fighting with the club’s boss, he chose to stay and fulfill the last year of his contract.

Next summer, an all-powerful battle could take place as clubs around the world, or at least those who can afford their salary, try to sign what is arguably the greatest player of all time.

According to Balague, Chelsea are very much on the hunt despite those ties to Manchester City and Messi’s former boss Guardiola.

“Chelsea is definitely in the equation if Messi is available. That is true,” he said in his Youtube channel.

“Chelsea will insist that she wants to hear everything that is happening.

“If they have the money, they will also want to participate. Remember, there is no transfer fee.”

It is likely that it will be Manchester City and not Chelsea who will be installed as the favorite for Messi’s signing next summer should the forward leave Barcelona.

However, given Manchester City’s poor start to the season, Chelsea may become a more attractive prospect if current trends continue until the end of the season.

Barcelona would have hoped to convince Messi to get ahead of the expiration of his contract, particularly with a new president who will be elected in the new year.

But given how the club handled things last summer when Messi wanted to leave and his poor start to the current La Liga season (Barca are 13th with two games in hand), the forward could leave as planned next. summer.
