Chelsea expects two more transfers once the deal with Kai Havertz is completed
According to the Daily Star, Chelsea are far from finished in the summer transfer window.
The Blues have been the most active team on the market in this window. They have already signed five players from the first team so far.
Frank Lampard’s team is closing in on German sensation Kai Havertz. The 21-year-old skipped his preseason at Bayer Leverkusen as his £ 90 million move to Chelsea looms. (h / t the sun)
Once completed, it will make him the record signing for the Blues. The record is currently held by Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Despite the prospect of adding the German ace, Lampard’s team is eager to address two other deficiencies in their squad.
Address a key weakness
According to the Sun (h / t Daily Star), the Blues will make a move for Declan Rice once the Havertz deal closes.
If completed, Rice will become the third central defender to sign for us this summer. Thiago Silva for all his qualities is a short-term option while Malang Sarr still has a lot to learn. The latter will spend the 2020/21 campaign on loan.
Rice is a player who can contribute a lot to Chelsea’s defense. He knows Chelsea, having spent time in the club’s academy until he was 14 years old.
So far, West Ham have held firm on their star player. Their stance may be softened if they can’t sell to anyone for a huge fee.
According to a report by Football Insider (h / t Daily Star), the other player on Lampard’s list is AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. The Blues boss has no faith in Kepa and is eager to bring a new number one.
The Italian is one of the best young goalkeepers in world football. With his contract expiring next summer, the Blues could make a move.
Chelsea, however, has yet to come close. One option that has been discussed is a swap agreement that will see Kepa move in the other direction, initially on loan.
