Ciro Immobile is going up against some old friends tonight. The Italian signed for Dortmund in 2014 but never settled in Germany, with a total of just three goals in 24 appearances. But he has regained form at home, and last season he racked up 42 goals in 47 appearances for his club and his country.
Mediocre straight
Dortmund is catching up with Lazio at a good time. The Italians have had a rather abject start to the campaign, losing two of their three games after a victory on opening day in Cagliari. The 1-1 draw at Inter Milan was sandwiched by major defeats to Atalanta and Sampdoria.

These two teams have only met before in European competition, in the 1995 UEFA Cup quarter-finals. Lazio managed a 1-0 home win in Rome thanks to a Steffen friend own goal, but Dortmund progressed after a 2-0 win in the Westfalenstadion with Stephane Chapuisat and Karl-Heinz Riedle (in discount time) in the minutes.
