Concerned Citizens of Ghana in the Diaspora (CCGTD) is a non-partisan group of compliant cadres outside the enclaves of Ghana. The group’s ideologies are clearly based on humanitarianism and nationalism. We censor and praise constructively devoid of provincialism.
Ghana has to build Ghana. No one can build us. And it is up to each and every Ghanaian to do their best to guarantee it. The sense of belonging gives us the inseparable consent that once you are Ghanaian, you are always Ghanaian.
In Ghana, the Presidential Election is held every four years to elect the President who is the Head of State and Commander-in-Chief of the Ghanaian Armed Forces through the Majority System (Two-Round System) and requires the winner to obtain more than 50% of the valid votes cast.
With the foregoing in mind, the Ghana Electoral Commission is, at best, the governmental institution entrusted with superlative independence in accordance with article 46 of the 1992 constitution which states that, “in the performance of its functions, the Electoral Commission will not be subject to the control or direction of any authority “except as provided in the constitution or any other law that is not incompatible with the commission”, to carry out free, fair and honest elections.
In light of this, we at the “Concerned Citizens of Ghana in the Diaspora, CCGTD” fraternity wish to congratulate and praise the Electoral Commission led by Jean Mensah for the masterful and brilliant act that was demonstrated in the conduct of the 2020 Elections. in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Covid-19 outbreak has undoubtedly derailed the stability of many countries around the world and led to numerous unforeseen disturbing circumstances that was apparently a difficult point to address in regards to any massive activity.
However, the Electoral Commission stood out and demonstrated beyond a reasonable doubt that in fact, the dogma of ingenuity is deeply ingrained in its record.
First, the compilation of the new 2020 voter registration until the successful display of registered electorates was and remains unimaginable. The adaptation of digital methods in their procedures provided a very convenient environment for the citizen of Ghana. It was very feasible for anyone to verify and evaluate their voter registration data without even visiting their respective registration centers. The Electoral Commission deserves applause for such a milestone in the country’s record book.
The timely and accurate dissemination of information and updating is now the hallmark of the electoral commission in its effectiveness. Ghanaians are contemporary witnesses to an Electoral Body imbued with an unmatched level of transparency and are grateful for it.
The pillar of the Electoral Commission is the conduct of general elections to ensure a peaceful and widely accepted outcome of the electoral results.
Historically, to tell the truth, it is visually clear that the 2020 general elections are the best since the start of the 4th republic. The overcrowding that has perpetually triggered unpleasant situations in the various polling stations was out of place during the voting process. This significantly ensured smooth and fast vote counting, along with clarity of the results at the coalition centers.
However, however, the people of Ghana for the first time were aware of the results based on certified tests that have been approved by all parties at the constituency, regional and national levels.
Citizens were not open to any information related to the elections.
Before the general elections, the president of the Electoral Commission categorically proclaimed his intention to declare the results of the elections in record time.
In vindicating its resolution, the EC has cleverly declared and cassette taped the election results in an unprecedented manner.
This gives reason to our exaltation of the EC on this year’s elections.
Peace is the highest aspiration of the citizen of Ghana and we cannot give rise to the desolation of our freedom for which he fought so hard.
In light of that, for losing opponents, it is better to try and fail than to fail without trying. You have done wonderfully well. Better luck next time.
We take the opportunity to admonish any party that is not satisfied with the electoral results to seek redress through the appropriate channel to ensure the survival of the country’s stability.
In conclusion, the “Concerned Citizens of Ghana in the Diaspora, CCGTD” congratulate the President-Elect, HE Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and encourage him to continue his immense commitment to the most demanding Ghanaians, the most important of the Diaspora, and also to celebrate Jean Mensah. He led the Electoral Commission for a wonderful job done.
Electoral Commission of Ayekoo Ghana.
Long live Ghana!
