The African Confederation of Football (CAF) has ordered Ghana to play the Nations Cup tie against Sudan behind closed doors.

This is part of the protocols that the countries of origin must follow before matchday 3 and 4 of the Nations Cup qualifiers next week.

The CAF has issued strict guidelines on COVID-19 ahead of the return of competitive international soccer, and each country is expected to undergo a series of tests before their respective games.

According to the CAF, it will only allow fans to enter the stadium after communication between its team and the government of the nations of origin.

“According to CAF’s COVID-19 protocol, all games must be played behind closed doors, without spectators,” read a statement on the CAF website.

“However, if the government of the host Association wants spectators to be present, then the Association in question must obtain approval from the CAF,” he continued.

“In the case of exceptional situations other than those mentioned above, the Organizing Committee will be consulted for a final decision.

“The objective of the emergency measures is to supervise the resumption of football on the continent, by defining a plan that emphasizes the players and the game. These specific rules can be revised according to the evolution of the health situation in the world and specifically in the African continent ”, he concluded.

Ghana will host Sudan on November 12 in the first of their double-headed ties at Cape Coast.
