Bruno Fernandes Targets Manchester United Defense After 3-3 Draw With Everton – Ghana Soccer Latest News, Live Scores, Results

Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes has beaten to his own defense after they blew the lead twice in their 3-3 draw with Everton at Old Trafford.

Just days after beating nine-man Southampton 9-0, the Red Devils were on their way to another victory at Old Trafford after recovering from a poor start to the second half.

United entered the break with a two-goal band thanks to a header from Edinson Cavani and a sublime effort from Fernandes, only for Abdoulaye Doucoure and James Rodríguez to draw with Everton seven minutes after the restart.

Scott McTominay put the hosts ahead again, only for Dominic Calvert-Lewin to react faster when Lucas Digne’s injury time free kick was triggered to seal the Toffees a point in the six-goal thriller.

The deflating result means United have failed to adequately close the gap with leader Manchester City, leaving Fernandes to beat up his own teammates for the result.

“I think we gave away the result, we gave away the game twice,” he said. ‘Because after being 2-0 up at half time, going into the second half like we did, is really bad.

“We are conceding goals in every game, conceding goals many times and at home we conceded too many goals.

‘Too many bad results at home and this cannot be possible. I think we have to win this game after being 2-0 up, you have to win this game.

Does not matter how. You receive two goals and you go back and score again.

“It is impossible to concede another goal, from a free kick in the middle of the field, we conceded a goal from there and the way we conceded.”

When asked if the team had already felt the game was won before Everton’s late goal, Fernandes added: ‘Maybe this was the problem, I don’t know. I don’t feel that, I don’t know what my teammates feel, but we can’t feel that until the game is over.

“And as you can see, we concede the goal in the last seconds of the game.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was also frustrated by the way United squandered all three points on Saturday.

“Well of course when you’re in the 94th minute and you’re winning the game, I think it feels worse, when you concede in the last minute,” Solskjaer said.

“The first five minutes of the second half, of course, were difficult to take, but the rest of the second half we played good football and we should have been out of sight, really.

“Soccer consists of putting the ball in one net and keeping it out of the other and we don’t achieve that. We can’t keep it out.

That’s what it cost us because we played very, very well.

“You know, you can sit down and talk about the good performance or the possession dominance and the opportunities that we had, but we still came out with just one point.”

The United manager also claimed that United are not aiming to win the title this season as they failed to close the gap with leader City.

“We are not talking about winning titles, we have come a long way in this team and we should not have been considered as title contenders,” Solskjaer told Sky Sports.

“We have to be better as a team and see where we end up.”
