The Nigerian Center for Disease Control (NCDC) confirmed 64 new cases of the COVID-19 outbreak in the country on Monday, bringing the total number of infections in Nigeria to 1,337.
The center said there have been no deaths in Nigeria in the past 24 hours and that no new state has reported a case.
“On April 27, 2020, there were 64 new confirmed cases and no deaths in Nigeria.
No new state has reported a case in the past 24 hours.
“To date, 1,337 cases have been confirmed, 255 cases have been registered and 40 deaths have been registered in 32 states and the Federal Capital Territory
“The 64 new cases are reported in five states: Lagos (34), FCT (15), Borno (11), Taraba (2), Gombe (2).
“A national multi-sectoral emergency operations center (COE), activated at Level 3, continues to coordinate national response activities”
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari approved on Monday a gradual and gradual reduction of the blockade in Lagos, Ogun states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The President announced this during his third national broadcast on COVID-19.
He said: “Based on the above and in line with the recommendations of the Presidential Working Group on COVID-19, the various Federal Government committees that have reviewed socio-economic issues and the Nigerian Governors Forum, I have approved a gradual and gradual reduction of closure measures in the FCT, Lagos and Ogun States as of Monday, May 4, 2020.
“However, this will be followed strictly with aggressive reinforcement of evidence and contact localization measures, while allowing the restoration of some economic and commercial activities in certain sectors.”
The president also declared a national curfew, effective as of Monday, May 4, 2020.
