The chiefs and people of Bono East on Tuesday gave a tumultuous welcome to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as he embarks on a two-day working visit to the Region.

With Techiman as its capital, the Region, sculpted in the then Brong-Ahafo Region, was created among five others in early 2019, following a successful referendum to that effect on December 27, 2018.

The Ghana News Agency (GNA) verified during a visit to some communities of the South Techiman Municipality and neighboring municipal and district capitals that in addition to the feverish preparations to receive the President for the assemblies, the expectations of the people were high.

In Bamiri, a farming community in Techiman municipality, residents were looking forward to welcoming President Akufo-Addo for the first time, as he has never been to that community since he took office.

Asamoah Asumaning, a farmer, said that President Akufo-Addo’s visit would increase farmers’ appetite for labor as they would request more agricultural inputs to motivate them to work harder for more yields under the Sowing for Export and Rural Development (PERD) and sowing for food and employment.

Dr. Amadu Asem, cashew seedling nursing coordinator under PERD in the community of Hausa, a suburb of Techiman, said President Akufo-Addo’s visit would encourage “those of us at the grassroots level to participate in the decision-making process for our communities. ” developing”.

Nana Ameyaw Manu, National Vice President of the Ghana Farmers Association, expressed the hope that the visit will reconnect the relationship between farmers and the Office of the President, as farmers will better understand their policies, especially those related to agriculture.

In the municipalities of Nkoranza South, Kintampo North, and Wenchi, as well as in the districts of Techiman North, Kintampo South, and Nkoranza North, the story was no different, as public buildings had been renovated to give proper status to those communities.

The president is expected to open a warehouse in Sene West, mow the lawn in Atebubu-Amantin for the rehabilitation of the Atebubu-Kwame Danso-Kwadwokrom road and also inspect the Amantin agricultural product processing factory under the One District One program Factory (1D1F).

At Techiman, the president would inaugurate the Bono East Regional Chiefs House and also cut grass to remodel and tare the roads of Tuobodom Town in Techiman North, among other activities.
