The driver of the Deputy Secretary General of the Democratic National Congress, Peter Boamah Otokunor, has been detained by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB).
The arrest of Eric Adoglah is reportedly linked to fire outbreaks in major markets across the country.
In less than four weeks, several fire outbreaks have been reported in markets and other public spaces across the country.
There have been fire outbreaks in Kantamanto, Koforidua and Odawna. Last Saturday, a section of the Kaneshie market was razed by fire, leaving nine stores destroyed.
The phenomenon has become a source of concern for traders who are losing thousands of CDs in these fire outbreaks.
And for others, it may be a deliberate attempt by certain individuals within the NDC opposition to display their dissatisfaction with the results declared by the Election Commission.
But speaking on the Accra TV3 station on Monday, the suspect’s lawyer, Victor Kojogah Adawudu, said that he has not yet been informed about the crime his client has been charged with, and thus his arrest.
For him, the NIB measure aims to intimidate the defendant’s boss, Mr. Otokunor.
“His boss has expressed his opinion, so try to make him say something about his boss or that something has been planted for him to say that he is about my boss. We do not know. So we don’t want to guess. “
Lawyer Adawudu expressed suspicion that BNI officials want to “torture” the driver to confess what may not be true.
