Liverpool, through coach Jurgen Klopp, have confirmed that goalkeeper Alisson Becker faces a significant streak on the sidelines.

Alisson was absent when the Reds collapsed against Aston Villa on Sunday and, according to Klopp, the Brazilian was injured in training.

“Yesterday an incident in training, very bad luck, two players collide, one gets up, the other does not. The one who didn’t get up was Ali.

“So after the first things, we don’t know 100%. But he can’t play today. We have to do a deeper evaluation, but he’s injured, let me put it that way. Now we expect him to be very fast.”

“It’s an international break, I’m pretty sure after that he won’t be ready. So we have to see week by week,” Klopp said.

Liverpool will face archrival Everton in the Merseyside derby after the international break on 17 October.
