Five people have been confirmed dead in a fatal accident that occurred in Gomoa Adam near Gomoa Anteadze on the Kasoa – Cape Coast highway in the Central Region.
Seven others also suffered varying degrees of injuries and are in critical condition at Apam Hospital.
The accident involved a Ford Transit with the registration number GS 6031-20 and a Toyota Hiace with the registration number GR 5059-20.
Fourteen passengers were aboard the two vehicles, but five died at the scene and another seven are fighting for their lives at Apam Catholic Hospital.
Two people have been treated and released.
Mr. Issah Abubakar, a survivor of the accident and a passenger in the Toyota Hiace vehicle, attributed the accident to improper overtaking by the driver of the Ford vehicle.
“I boarded the vehicle from Kasoa in the direction of Cape Coast and upon reaching a section of the road, I saw the Ford Transit mistakenly overtake a tanker and collided with his car in the process,” he said.
Meanwhile, the seven injured people, however, are responding to treatment.
