Former Black Stars defender Samuel Osei Kuffour has implored Ghanaians to respect CK Akonnor’s decision on his choice of captains for the Black Stars.
Akonnor, 45, has kept Andre Ayew as skipper and appointed Thomas Partey and Richard Ofori as 1st Vice-Captain and 2nd Vice-Captain, respectively.
The former Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko coach has faced criticism from a section of the Ghana soccer fraternity for his choice of captains.
Some pointed to Mubarak Wakaso and Jordan Ayew, arguing that they have served longer on the national team than the two new Black Stars alternate captains.
But according to Bayern Munich legend, Ghanaians should respect CK Akonnor’s decision on their choice of captain, because the choice of a skipper should not be based solely on long service.
