Ghana drew 1-1 with rivals Nigeria in the first match of the WAFU Zone B U17 Championship on Saturday.

The Black Starlets had to come from behind to pick a match point.

Substitute Joseph Arumala put Nigeria ahead in the 83rd minute from the penalty spot after forward Abdullahi Ahmed was fouled in the penalty area on his way into the penalty area.

Soon after, the Starlets also earned a penalty after the Eaglets after goalkeeper Destiny turned a clear Ghanaian forward on goal.

Captain Abdul Fatawu Issahaku carefully converted the place.

The Black Starlets need a draw in their last Group match against Ivory Coast to advance to the semi-finals.
