Bernard Mornah lost his bid to retain the chairmanship of the National People’s Convention (PNC) on Wednesday at the party’s National Delegates Conference, which saw the election of David Apasera as the party’s new standard-bearer for the 2020 General Election.
Mornah got 1,266 votes, while Moses Dani Baah got 1,297 in the presidential race that was collected from all 16 regions of the country.
In the presidential race, Mr. David Apasera emerged as the standard bearer of the PNC defeating its contenders, Samson Asaaki Awingobit and the Rev. Samuel Adjei Baah.
David Apasera obtained 1,315 votes, while Samson Asaaki obtained 789 votes and the Reverend Samuel Adjei Baah obtained 465 votes.
Mornah, who is also contesting the parliamentary seat for the Nadowli Kaleo constituency, wished the party the best as they advanced.
“I wish Moses Dani Baah, David Apasera and the rest of the team that he is elected the best in his tenure. I am hopeful that where we fail they will succeed and where we succeed they will magnify. Above all, I am hopeful that they will make the PNC a better political party than the one they have inherited.
Speaking after his victory, David Apasera said: “I will do my best to rejuvenate the PNC. I call on all members across the country and even abroad who have the love of the PNC to come together to rebuild the party. The PNC will definitely make it to the top one day. “
