The Supreme Chief (Konor) of the traditional Manya Krobo area, Nene Sackite II, has said that Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang was on the list of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the run-up to the December 7, 2020 elections it will benefit Ghanaians. .
Welcoming him to the land of Krobo in the Eastern Region, where he began his tour on Monday, October 5, 2020, the head of Krobo said:
“On behalf of the people of Manya Krobo, and indeed on my own behalf, I would like to welcome you to the land of Krobo. We are excited to see you here today because it is the right thing for you to be here; very significant, “noted the chief, adding:” … All over the world, you will see and notice the contribution of women. In the United States, the running mate of a major political party is a woman. You go to Germany, the chancellor is also a woman; you go to New Zealand, the Prime Minister is a woman. “
In his opinion, it is time for Africa and Ghana to embrace the wind of change.
“Now in Africa we are seeing the wind of change around the world and today a major political party in Ghana has chosen a woman as a running mate.
“This is significant, this is correct, this is a good thing for all of us and my hope is that this wind of change will flow from the international to the national to the regional and then to the local and I’m sure that with the example that established – well, we already know about your hard work and that is the main reason you have been selected and I appreciate you and want to congratulate you on that – we hope other women too, be it our sisters, our children or our relatives or loved ones or whoever, they will say to themselves: ‘Yes, I can do it too, like her’.
“So, coming here today in the land of Krobo is good.
“I like it and I am willing to give you the right of way to go with my children and talk to them,” Konor said.
He said that Professor Opoku-Agyemang would leave the land of Krobo feeling loved.
“I know that when you leave them, you will see the warmth Krobos has for whoever they meet.
“So, really, you’ve been going all day, all morning, all afternoon; I think it’s 3 o’clock now; gone a whole day. I’m not going to give too much speech but what I mean is exactly what I said; that your being on the ballot is good and it is good for everyone, it is good for all women in this country and in Africa as well, and I know that you will not disappoint anyone ”.
“So thank you very much for coming here, and anytime you want to come back, you are welcome,” he said.
For her part, Professor Opoku-Agyemang said: “I want to thank you very much for your time, for your patience in waiting for us. As you can see, now we are not going to meet, we work in the past and I am here again for reasons that are very obvious, so, in your case, it is not to introduce myself, it is to search. your prayers, to seek your advice, to seek your blessing to move on and from the way you have spoken, I know I have it.
