The central regional minister, Kwamena Duncan, has questioned the maturity of the secretary general of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, following the latter’s recent comments on the uproar in western Togo.
Asiedu Nketia is said to have made a comment that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) is fully behind West Togo’s secessionist activities in the Volta region in an attempt to destabilize the region, which is known to be the stronghold of the opposition NDC.
He and his party’s standard-bearer, former President John Dramani Mahama share similar concerns, claiming that the secessionist attacks are orchestrated by the incumbent government to gain an electoral advantage in the December 7 general election.
“… as far as I’m concerned, what’s being touted as the West Togoland problem is a 100 percent NPP orchestration.”
“Not 90, not 95, not 98, but 100 percent of the NPP orchestration because NPP will want to do everything possible to ensure that you do not fully participate in the December elections,” the quote is attributed to Asiedu Nketia.
According to him, the military deployment in the Region during the voter registration exercise was part of the government’s plans to cause chaos in the Region.
“… They deployed the army here and told the rest of the Ghanaians that they were fighting COVID.
“When the military came here, I managed. Did you see the military fighting COVID or fighting potential registrants? Are people in the Volta region COVID people? I ask.
He urged the people of the Volta region to be vigilant during the elections saying “. . let’s open our eyes. These are people with an agenda that will never, and I say never, allow the full participation of volunteers in this election and we have seen enough to be convinced that they are committed to implementing that agenda.
“What they are doing with the West Togoland issue is finding some small complaints from some people and exaggerating them and using them as a lure to create problems for the Region in the December elections,” he warned.
Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia elaborated on the plans for the ruling nuclear power plant.
He said; “Their game plan is simple: they send people into the bushes to go training and they themselves went into the bushes with cameras to capture these training grounds and show the international community that volunteers are training in the bush to subversive activities.
“They just wanted to create that first impression on everyone’s mind that there is a significant group of Voltarians who do not want Volta to be part of Ghana and therefore will not allow Voltarians to participate in the elections.
“Their simple thought is that if the volunteers don’t participate in the elections, then they can get a cheap victory without thinking about the consequences of what they are planting themselves.
“While I am here, I am fully aware that military uniforms were prepared, so on December 7, these uniforms will be put on to the vigilantes to come to the Volta region, in all the voting centers to create trouble and then they will deploy more military personnel and then the Volta Region becomes a battlefield from where elections cannot be held ”, he alleged.
“If they were really going after the subversioners, what happened to the people they arrested? Where are they? “He also questioned.
Grow up, Asiedu Nketia!
Kwamena Duncan, reacting to Asiedu Nketia’s claims, admonished the latter to behave like the adult that he is and to stop his childish ways.
Citing biblical scripture (1 Corinthians 13:11), Hon. Kwamena Duncan wondered how Asiedu Nketia, at his age, would make such comments.
“When I was a child, I did things as a child, but today that I am an adult, I do things as a mature person. That is what a normal human being is, a sane human being, because when you are young, I have not found some experiences , so your mind is raw. But when the mind processes your encounters and life experiences, all of that should prepare you to gain wisdom when you grow up, “he addressed this message to the Head of NDC Scribe.
For him, the NDC is frustrated by the defeat that awaits them in the December elections, hence they resort to seditious comments.
” Do you know the cause of all this? They see defeat staring them in the face. Former President Mahama sees the defeat that awaits him … “, he said.
Kwamena Duncan spoke about Peace FM’s flagship show “Kokrokoo”.
