The Electoral Commission (EC) has advised people who confirm their 2020 voter census data to use the SMS channel for patience as it is currently working on the system, which is reportedly slow.
This follows the announcement by the EC that voters can verify their registration details using SMS short code 1422.
In a statement issued by the EC, the Commission noted: “that some voters, when confirming their voter data using channel 1422 SMS, are experiencing some delays.”
He advised people using the SMS channel to “be patient and do not forward your identification numbers to the platform.”
The CE continued: “The engineers are working 24 hours a day and should solve the queue problems in an hour.”
Furthermore, he urged his “stakeholders who use the service to be patient,” adding: “We ask stakeholders not to submit their voter identification numbers multiple times as this will result in a long queue and result in a additional airtime charge “.
The electoral management body, however, indicated that: “Those interested who have accessed the platform will receive their results shortly.”
At a press conference on Thursday, September 17, 2020, Ms. Mensa said: “During this exhibition period, physical copies of the 2020 provisional electoral roll will be placed in the 33,367 exhibition centers to allow potential voters to verify their data as they were captured during the registration exercise and request modifications or insertions when necessary ”.
He said: “It is important to note that all the people who registered at the various district offices must go to their assigned voting tables during the exhibition exercise and not to the district offices.”
“In an attempt to ensure the safety of our stakeholders and make life easier for all prospective voters, the Commission will deploy a mobile phone system, also known as SMS, to allow prospective voters to verify their data using their mobile phones during a rate of 30 pesewas.
“A prospective voter can access this system simply by texting their voter identification number to 1422 and their details will immediately appear. With this simple process one voter at the click of the button, ”you can get all your voter registration data.
According to Ms. Mensa, “this facility will be available to all voters throughout the entire period, from Friday, September 18 to Friday, September 25, 2020.”
“We are aware that several citizens have tried to access this platform before it was activated.
“We want to assure you that your funds have not been wasted.
“Our team has collected your data. The system will send your information to your phone once the platform goes live tomorrow. Therefore, we urge you not to access the system again, ”he said.
