Despite its enormous challenges, 2020 has been a year of many covered for Bayern Munich. After a hiatus in soccer in Europe for almost three months due to the coronavirus pandemic, Hansi Flick led Bayern to another historic treble, as well as the UEFA Super Cup title and the DFL Super Cup title.
Even more impressive, it has been a 2019/2020 season full of personal records and milestones for Robert Lewandowski. In addition to all the winner medals he has collected in the last six months, FIFA also named him the best male footballer of the year and, more recently, he was named Globe Soccer Player of the Year in Dubai, beating Cristiano Ronaldo. Of course, the most recent accolades offered Lewandowski a chance to recreate his infamous Instagram photo where he was in bed with all the silverware he had collected last season (Tz). The original version was just the Polish ace in bed with the Lisbon Champions League trophy. Now is the best time to use the old “this is how it started” – “this is how it goes” photo.
This is how it started:
This is how it goes now:
In the photo of the reduction “I woke up like this” with the Bayern talisman:
- Championship trophy
- Yet another Torjägerkanone
- DFB-Pokal Trophy
- Champions league trophy
- UEFA Super Cup Trophy
- DFL Super Cup Trophy
- FIFA Best Male Player Award
- Globe Soccer Player of the Year
- UEFA Player of the Year Award
- Champions League best striker of the year
- Bundesliga Player of the Season Award
- Tuttosport Golden Player Award
Just when you think it can’t get any better for Lewandowski, it does. He’s already on his way to leading the Bundesliga in scoring again this season with 17 goals to his name and it could very well be the season in which he breaks Gerd Müller’s record of 40 goals in a single Bundesliga season. Only time will tell, but Lewandowski shows absolutely no signs of slowing down at the moment.
And don’t worry, the trophies occupying the bed with Lewy were 100% fine with his wife, Anna!
