Bayern Munich boss Karl-Heinz Rummeenigge has suggested that the club will not have to rescue Leroy Sane.
Manchester City wants around £ 100 million for the 24-year-old with the Germany winger interested in the move after falling on the Etihad pecking order under Pep Guardiola.
Rummenigge said: “There will still be players who demand a high price. But the big question is: who can pay this price?
“Cash is a position that no longer exists on a large scale in professional soccer.
“Perhaps it is good that we become a little more rational and stable. After all, the risk to the clubs has increased in recent years.”
Sane has been missing all season after suffering a serious injury in the City Community Shield victory over Liverpool in August.
There were rumors that a move to Bavaria would come true at the time, but his injury reduced any possible outflow.
Sane has had quality performance since moving to Manchester from Schalke as one of Guardiola’s first signings in 2016.
He has scored 39 goals in 134 games and is seen as a possible successor to Arjen Robben at the Allianz Arena.
Bayern had Robben and Franck Ribery on both sides for almost a decade, but the duo called their careers time in Germany last summer.
Serge Gnabry has become a crucial member of the squad, but the German giants are still eager to strengthen.
Guardiola has regularly stated that he wants Sane to remain in Manchester, but admitted in January that, with 18 months remaining on the player’s deal, it is out of his reach.
“It is a question for Leroy, his agents and the club, I am not involved in that,” he said.
